From a standing position, jump straight up as high as you can and land in the same place. Keep your hands on your hips at all times. When jumping, keep your upper body stabilised and focus on your legs.

You can bend your legs at the knees a bit before you jump (this gives your leg muscles more energy). Keep your legs extended as you jump. And try to keep them straight until you land.
